Join us in congratulating Meaghan Meyer as she’s named our April Athlete Of The Month! This month we’re excited to recognize the effort that she puts in to her workouts and celebrate the success that she’s had during her time at 317!


How did you get started with CrossFit?
“Before I had Nora, I started CrossFit to mix up my off season triathlon training. I enjoyed the challenge but life happened and once Nora arrived my focus shifted to learning how to navigate being a single mom with a super stressful career. I would drive past 317 on my way to work and see everyone working hard and finally made the decision to come in. I was totally out of shape but I made myself make coming to the gym a priority and the physical and mental changes have been incredible over the last 18 months.”

Favorite movement or workout?
“Any of the hero WODs. They make me push harder to truly honor their memory.”

Least favorite movement or workout?
“Pistols. We don’t do them very often but I dread seeing them programmed.”

Long term and short term goals:
“Long term I just want to be able to continue seeing overall improvement with my lifts and fitness and avoid injuries or the dreaded plateau…and get a 300# dead lift.  Short term – Pull-ups and hand stand push ups. I’m SOOOO close to getting pull ups!”

What would you tell someone that is on the fence about CrossFit and is scared to try?
“Just go. It’s not easy but you can’t skip the struggle if you want results.”

What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
“Sticking with the journey and not giving up even when things are tough..and climbing the rope.  I’ve probably physically been capable of doing it for awhile but I finally broke through the mental block and just did it.”

Who are 3 people you look up to and why?
”My grandmother because she is an amazing woman who survived being in an iron lung, raised five kids including one with severe disabilities and will literally give a stranger the clothes off her back. My parents are the other two most influential people in my life. They are incredibly supportive and helpful and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support.”

What do you love most about CrossFit 317?
“The people and the coaches. There are a lot of big personalities at 317 and it’s nice to be able to have fun while getting in a great workout.”

What is a quote or motto that you live by? 
“You must do the things you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt (P.S. – Nora is named after Eleanor Roosevelt)
