“We felt so welcome right from the start.”
One of the many great things about CrossFit is that people of all ages workout together in our classes. This is especially true during our classes where we have teens working out next to grandparents at our 4:30 class. Today we’re getting to know one of these teens, Campbell Adelsperger. Read on to learn more about her experience at 317!
Tell us a little about yourself. Career? Family life? Let’s get to know you!
“I’m a junior in high school, I have a younger sister, and a dog.”
What made you consider joining a CrossFit gym?
“I had recently quit track and I needed something to keep me busy and in shape. I’d always wanted to try CrossFit but I’d never had a chance until then.”
Why did you choose CrossFit 317?
“My dad knew one of the coaches, so she offered to teach me how to do all of the lifts and exercises.”
Please share some of your first impressions of the facility, the workouts, the coaching, and the class environment.
“When I first started going with my sister, we didn’t really know anyone there. We felt so welcome right from the start. I’d never really lifted weights before, so the workouts were challenging and I had to modify things a lot. As I got stronger I started being able to life more and do more of the exercises. The coaches were amazing and they always made sure that I was using the right technique so I didn’t hurt myself.”
What physical changes have you seen thus far?
“Physically, my muscles are a lot more toned and my abs and arms especially have gotten a lot stronger.”
How has your training at CrossFit 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“Working out at 317 is so rewarding and no matter what happens in my day going to a class always makes it better or less stressful. I’m a lot more relaxed and happier once I work out.”
What has surprised you the most about being part of the CrossFit 317 community?
“I wasn’t expecting to like going to the gym as much as I do. I want to go now not only to work out, but to get to hang out with the people there.”
Did you have a moment where you knew CrossFit was for you?
“I’m not really sure exactly when I realized that CrossFit was for me, but I realized that going to workouts, especially the ones that look really really hard, and then finishing them was such a cool feeling. It made me want to keep coming to class. That’s kind of how I knew that it was for me.”
What advice would you offer someone that’s considering CrossFit 317?
“Come to a Saturday class with a friend, and give it a try! Odds are you’re going to end up loving it.”
Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing in your free time? Any hobbies?
“I’m also in Show Choir at my high school. We practice twice a week during the season and we have a competition every weekend. I love singing and dancing.”
One last really important question. If you owned a boat, what would you name it?
“I would name it Ambition because with as busy as I am and with college and my future coming up so soon, I need to have a lot of ambition to get things done right.”
