Congratulations to Tim Edwards, our November Athlete Of The Month! Tim has been a consistent member of the early morning crew at 317 since January 2018 and his efforts have been paying off. Read on to learn more about Tim!


How did you get started with CrossFit?
“My wife did a search for gyms and CrossFit317 came up. She asked if I wanted to sign up with her for the Burn class. I signed up for the 0530 class and she signed up for the pm class with my son.”

Favorite movement or workout?
“I enjoy doing dead lifts and and back squats.”

Least favorite movement or workout?
“Inchworms and hollow rocks.”

Long term and short term goals:
“My short term goal was to lose weight and I lost about 25 lbs in 12 weeks. My long term goal is to maintain my weight and get stronger. My clothes are fitting better and I feel great. I’ve had to buy smaller pants and shirts.”

What would you tell someone that is on the fence about CrossFit and is scared to try?
“Come out and try it. Each day there is something new to challenge you. You will be amazed of what you can do. You can do everything at your pace and weight. Just set your mind to be better than the previous day.”

What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
“Two weeks ago, I was able to climb a rope for the first time in my life. I told people at work, my friends and my family. Everybody. Lol.”

Who are 3 people you look up to and why?
“My younger brother Joe, whom I gave a kidney to. His spirit was strong and never gave up. He lived for his sons and was able to see his oldest son with a basketball State Championship with Crispus Attucks H.S. He will always be with me.”

What do you love most about CrossFit 317?
“I love the atmosphere in the morning. It reminds me of the brotherhood of being in the Army and getting up for pt. I enjoy the instructors from Andrew, Jake and Ashley.”

What is a quote or motto that you live by?
“Enjoy today because tomorrow is not promised.”
