“…the coaches really care about your progress. Everyone is so supportive of each other.”
Today we’re getting to know Jesse McNealy. After a recent hiatus from CrossFit in order to finish school, Jesse has jumped back in through our Burn classes. We’re excited to have her back in class!
Tell us a little about yourself. Career? Family life? Let’s get to know you!
“I recently graduated college and am now a medical laboratory scientist working in a blood bank. (Everyone should donate blood!) In a few months, I will become an aunt which I’m very excited about.”
What made you consider joining a CrossFit gym?
“I used to run cross country and track, but eventually got burned out on running. I was looking for other workout ideas and figured I had nothing to lose by trying out CrossFit.”
Why did you choose CrossFit 317?
“I drove by the gym all the time. I researched it online and the Kick-Off class seemed very approachable. The rest is history!”
Please share some of your first impressions of the facility, the workouts, the coaching, and the class environment.
“I was immediately impressed with 317. The facility is huge and they keep it clean. The workouts are hard, but doable and the coaches really care about your progress. Everyone is so supportive of each other.”
What physical changes have you seen thus far?
“I’ve gotten more toned since joining 317 and just feel better physically and mentally.”
How has your training at CrossFit 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“I have more energy during the day; in addition I now know how to properly lift anything from groceries to heavy boxes.”
What has surprised you the most about being part of the CrossFit 317 community?
“I was surprised by how tight-knit this community is. If you don’t show up for a week, someone will ask where you’ve been. Everyone here is great.”
Did you have a moment where you knew CrossFit was for you?
“Yes – my very first workout when we all gave each other high-fives.”
What advice would you offer someone that’s considering CrossFit 317?
“I would say go for it! The coaches will meet you where you’re at and help you improve from there. Also, look at CrossFit as an investment in yourself. The work you put in today will return years later with improved mobility and quality of life.”
Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing in your free time? Any hobbies?
“I enjoy spending time with my family, dancing, and climbing mountains.”
One last really important question. If you owned a boat, what would you name it?
