How did you get started with CrossFit?
“I heard about CrossFit about 4 years ago and started to watching videos about CrossFit, but was undecided if that was the right thing for me. One night, we decided to go look for a gym that a friend recommended to MC and I. We never found it, but we found a CrossFit gym and started a few weeks after.”
Favorite movement or workout?
“I think everybody knows that I love burpees! I’ve been asked several times, how can I go that fast? I really don’t know, but I like them. My record is 140 in 7 minutes.”
Least favorite movement or workout?
“I would say wallballs, just because I am short and if that gives me an advantage with burpees, it doesn’t with wallballs. The target is super high for me and I have to double the effort. In reality, I like every single workout, they are all different and they come with a mental and physical challenge.”
Long term and short term goals:
“My long term goal is to get back my ring muscle ups. My short term goal is to get double unders.”
What would you tell someone that is on the fence about CrossFit and is scared to try?
“I would tell them that there is no need to be afraid, every one starts from zero, nobody is perfect. CrossFit 317 has excellent coaches that will teach you how to do the right movements with good form. That is the beauty of CrossFit, no matter how tall or short, big or tiny, old or young, CrossFit is for anyone.”
What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
“I feel that at 50 I am in better shape than I was at 20 and I plan in keeping it up!”
Who are 3 people you look up to and why?
“MC,my wife, for her courage and determination. Diego, my son, I think he is a badass and is fun to have him as a partner on Saturday’s workouts. Rich Fronning is my main inspiration in everything CrossFit, he is physically and mentally tough and he is the real fittest man on earth.”
What do you love most about CrossFit 317?
“What I love the most is the people. I feel like I am at home and everyone is like my family. We have great coaches and a great place to workout.”
What is a quote or motto that you live by?
“No pain, no gain” and “Life is good.”
