We chat with Megan Testa in today’s Member Monday. Read on to learn more about how she felt as a beginner and how her willingness to try something new has paid off both in the gym and in her everyday life.

What were your first impressions upon joining CrossFit 317?
Everyone was very welcoming and encouraging from the very beginning. I was definitely intimidated by some of the moves I had never done (or never even heard of) but no one made me feel lesser because I was new or had a lot of questions!:-)

How has your training at 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
I find myself being able to be more active and have more energy with my boys. I am more confident to try other new things and I am more confident as I am slowly but surely seeing some muscles start to develop!

How does CrossFit 317 meet your health and fitness needs?
CrossFit is the perfect workout for me. I have realized that I thrive when I am in a group environment and when I have people pushing me and encouraging me at the same time. I also love that is something new everyday! For me, exercise has to be something I enjoy doing, otherwise I won’t do it very long, and I LOVE CrossFit!!

Is there a particular class time that you enjoy?
I like the 9am or Noon classes because they best fit my schedule. But I do like trying the other times when I get a chance so I can meet new people!

Do you have a 317 memory that you would like to share?
During Kick-Off Lori asked me if I had any push ups, I replied “I can do 2 or 3” and I showed her what I thought were good push ups. She was very nice and said something like “ok, now let’s try it this way” aka- the correct way… I couldn’t even do 1!!! (But I am proud to say I can now do 3 full push ups with good form! Lol! #progress)

What’s your favorite part of CrossFit?
The feeling I have after pushing myself through a workout that I didn’t think I could finish!

If asked to sum up 317 in one word or phrase, what would it be?
An amazing community of people who strive for excellence in every area!

What advice would you offer to someone that’s new to CrossFit?
Take time to get down the right form with the lifts – it will help you in the future as your start to add more weight! Don’t compare yourself to anyone else – just strive for your personal best!

Outside of the gym, what activities and hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy playing catch with my boys and I love to read!
