“…if you are first starting CrossFit here at 317, DON’T GIVE UP during the first few hard weeks…”

This morning we chat with another long time CrossFit 317 member, Becca Brill. You may know her as our resident artist and lover of weightlifting. Read on as she shares some insight in to getting through that beginner stage.

How has your training at 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“I am a more confident, driven person because of boundaries I push myself to every day at the gym. I also am super passionate about helping other people find their favorite way to fitness/work out (whether that is yoga, running, CrossFit, etc). Nutrition is also a huge new passion of mine thanks to my introduction to Whole30 here at the gym, and doing macro stuff with Kelly Odom as well!”

Is there a 317 memory that you would like to share?
“Oh my gosh… WAAAAY too many! I would say though, if you are first starting CrossFit here at 317, DON’T GIVE UP during the first few hard weeks (or months!) When I first started I don’t remember what the WOD was, but it had a crap ton of burpees in it, and I remember literally not being able to push myself off the ground my arms were so fried… When I got done, I knew my butt had just gotten handed to me, but I wanted to try again and get better at it! Now I can do burpees more easily (exception being 16.5 lol) but I have new goals and gainz I am working on making… Moral of the story… Never give up just because the workout kicked your butt. Come back again and try again the next day!”

What’s your favorite movement in CrossFit?
“Snatch! Or Deadlifts…. Or pull-ups… Too many! haha”

If asked to sum up 317 in one word, what would it be?
“Community. Hands down.”

What do you love to do in your free time?
“I am an artist, so either making art, reading a great book, or being outside, doing stuff with my friends! :)”
