Today is the fourth day of our December challenge. This week, we’re working on your happy. Read more about it here.
Fit It Forward Challenge #4: Find Their Genius. Everyone is really, really good at something. Taken out of context, that ‘genius’ may seem trivial, but it’s a sign of larger things. One of my favorite things about Kirk is his ability to make things…instead of just buying! He is very handy and as you may know, he made all of our sleds instead of just purchasing them. This makes a great story behind each piece and creates sentiment. Instead of just having stuff…you have stories!
We spend a lot of time finding (and will be doing this even more in the future) ‘bright spots’ for CrossFit 317 family members. Our collective pursuit-fitness-provides a great opportunity for nurturing genius. When Shawn Phelps hit her first pull-up and then continued to get another one!, all the coaches were elated. It’s really easy to find genius in the gym. We also want all of them posted up for everyone to see!
It might be hard to uncover genius–or forget genius–outside the gym. When your husband, who is a genius at making coffee, leaves the door open too long, or forgets to take out the garbage, try to focus on the coffee today. You don’t have to forget about the other stuff, but tell him that his genius is appreciated.
The quiet uncovering of genius is a crime. If you see something, say something.
Let US know you’re doing the challenge! Tag yourself in this picture in my facebook stream (or the CrossFit 317 photo stream) and make it your profile pic for the week! You don’t have to tell anyone what it means if you don’t want to, but we wanna know that the Catalyst Family is doing some good out there!
The picture looks like this:
Last day of squats! (well at least for this cycle) – Max Front Squat
