We’re chatting with CrossFit 317 member, Chelsea Eslick, in today’s Member Monday. Read on to learn how Chelsea found CrossFit, and the role it’s playing in her life.

Tell us a little about yourself. Career? Family life? Let’s get to know you!
“I’m very career driven and have been most of my life. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs so hard work, passion, and dedication were characteristics my parents imprinted on me. So mostly everything I do in life I’m really passionate about and work hard for it. AKA CrossFit is def hard work! I love working in the hotel industry and have been since I was 15 years old. I enjoy the ever changing environment and I love accommodating people. Making people happy makes me happy! I have over 200 pairs of shoes and will easily admit I am a shoeaholic. I’m a big animal lover, wine lover, and sci-fi nerd. I live by Karma and Carpe Diem.

What made you consider joining a CrossFit gym?
“My brother and his wife started CrossFit probably 6 years ago. They feel in love with it and even did their engagement pictures at their CrossFit gym. I was inspired by their dedication to this sport and how it really fulfilled their lives. I thought I really need a gym/work out like that too! So, my best friend and I started CrossFit together and both still do it today.”

Why did you choose CrossFit 317?
“I chose CrossFit317 because the reviews were very positive and so were the colors of the gym! I love the use of the green throughout the gym it’s energizing.”

Please share some of your first impressions of the facility, the workouts, the coaching, and the class environment.
“I felt welcomed my first day at CrossFit 317. I remember it was a partner WOD and I was so nervous because I knew nobody. Andrew was coaching and everyone was super duper friendly and I felt comfortable immediately.”

What physical changes have you seen thus far?
“If I go really hard at CrossFit and focus on my Macros I have crazy quick results. The combinations of the 2 are magic!”

How has your training at CrossFit 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“CrossFit has made me a stronger person mentally more than anything. I find myself not questioning my limits anymore and really pushing to be more successful, to be more active, and just accomplish the most out of each and everyday.”

What has surprised you the most about being part of the CrossFit 317 community?
“I think the most surprising aspect of this gym is the time and energy that is put in by the coaches, the owner, and the administration. There are dozens of gyms but you guys do it right. You take the time to recognize everyone’s PR’s, Birthdays, hold events, etc. The personal touch is just impeccable.”

Did you have a moment where you knew CrossFit was for you?
“I think I realized CrossFit was for me when I never got bored with it. I love how everyday is different.”

What advice would you offer someone that’s considering CrossFit 317?
“Don’t be intimidated! I feel like that’s a lot of outsiders first impression of CrossFit.”

Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing in your free time? Any hobbies?
“I love trying out new restaurants and breweries! I’m such a foodie and beer snob. This is why I must work extra hard at CrossFit 🙂 Besides that I’m obsessed with vintage shopping, antiquing, and designing. I like to be on the go so you name it I’ve probably been there or will try it. But give me a good book I’ll stay home and read too!”
