Member Monday rolls on with some thoughts from Areca Everage, CrossFit 317 member since fall of 2013. Areca recently won “Spirit of the Workout” for pushing through 16.5 and setting an 8:29 PR. Read on to get to know more about the role 317 plays in Areca’s life.
How has your training at 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“Training has helped me with keeping my energy up when the unexpected occurs. A tree fell across our driveway. It took an entire weekend to cut up the tree and move it out of the way. I felt great at the end of the weekend. My husband did not. Training has also allowed me to intimidate my daughters’ boyfriends. It is amusing for the ones who lift weights to get more careful about how they act around me when they find out I can lift as much as they do.”
Has training at 317 had an impact on how you view yourself?
“I love being strong and independent. Training at 317 had done but enhance that for me.”
Is there a 317 memory that you would like to share?
“I am not a fast runner. There have been so many times that I have finished last, but the group keeps cheering you on. Some of them may do that last lap or two with you. It helps you keep going and not get down on yourself about what you are not good at.”
