“…CrossFit took me out of my comfort zone! It has pushed me to want to do more physically and mentally.”

Join us as we get to know Rachel Morgan a little better this week. Rachel started at CrossFit 317 after enrolling her daughter in our CrossFit Kids program. Read on to learn how CrossFit is playing a role in their mother-daughter bond.

What were your first impressions upon joining CrossFit 317?
“My daughter started CrossFit kids first. Walking her into the gym I was intimidated! I used to peek from the back room watching everyone doing the workout and wondering how the heck people could lift so much weight and push themselves that hard, I was amazed!”

How has your training at 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“CrossFit has been one of the most physically challenging things I have done to date. I have always been an athlete, I played college tennis but CrossFit took me out of my comfort zone! It has pushed me to want to do more physically and mentally. The best part of this gym, and I have been to many, is that you come into such a warm welcoming environment and you realize we are all in the same boat! It is so empowering to be surrounded by others that are pushing themselves physically and mentally and it drives me to work harder. This is a sport but more so this gym has impacted my life outside to make me want more for myself physically and to have the confidence to work towards it! It has also connected my daughter and I on another level because as a youngster she is also encouraged and supported by all the people around her and as a young impressionable girl I couldn’t imagine better people for her to be impacted by.”

How does CrossFit 317 meet your health and fitness needs?
“For one hour a day I can push myself to work harder than I ever thought possible and at the end I feel great. It makes me feel strong physically and mentally and having the balance between strength and cardio gives me an overall satisfaction with my workout. Everyday drives me to come back and push that much harder and that is something that I haven’t found with any other training I have done.”

Do you have a 317 memory that you would like to share?
“My favorite memory of this gym has to do with my daughter. Children are so impressionable and my daughter was answering questions for a school project and one of the questions was: What makes you feel good? Her answer was “CrossFit 317 because it makes me feel strong and also makes me believe I can do things that I didn’t think I could like jump on a tall box!” I have that hanging on my refrigerator to remind us both of the impact of physically and mental fitness!”

What’s your favorite part of CrossFit?
“The daily challenge of the workout and the people!!”

If asked to sum up 317 in one word or phrase, what would it be?

Outside of the gym, what activities and hobbies do you enjoy?
“Playing tennis, bike riding, exploring (cites, states, countries)”
