Not only is Lorena Flores our first Member Monday feature for 2017, she is also our January Athlete Of The Month! Lorena’s commitment to her health and fitness is an inspiration. She routinely attends classes five days each week and she’s a regular at our popular Saturday morning partner WOD. Read on to learn more about what Lorena loves about CrossFit and what she enjoys when she’s away from the gym.

What were your first impressions upon joining CrossFit 317?
“I saw an energy in the class and I felt like adrenaline rush.”

How has your training at 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“I feel better and actually have much more energy. At times I feel tired but I feel like I need more no matter how tire or sore I feel. Helps me relax and destress and my body feels much more conditioned and stronger.”

How does CrossFit 317 meet your health and fitness needs?
“I don’t have any health issue but it helps me release stress and I feel bad if I don’t go to CrossFit.”

Is there a particular class time that you enjoy?
“I actually enjoy the last 6:30pm class because I know once I’m done there I can go home, calm down, and go to sleep.”

Do you have 317 memories that you would like to share?
“I have a bad memory which help focus much better and take CrossFit much more serious now; which was one day when I hurt my back because I wasn’t being careful. So now I’m much careful and cautions and I enjoy my workouts to the max!”

What’s your favorite part of CrossFit?
“My favorite parts would have to be the Saturday partner workouts, I really enjoy them.”

If asked to sum up 317 in one word or phrase, what would it be?
“My oasis, it is where I can relax and feel free!”

What advice would you offer to someone that’s new to CrossFit?
“I would tell someone new to take their time and patience is something very important, and to NEVER give up.”

Outside of the gym, what activities and hobbies do you enjoy?
“My first love is soccer, and I really enjoy salsa dancing!”
