“I feel more energetic, less stressed and I’m sleeping better.”


 

We chat with CrossFit 317 member, Carla Westphal, in today’s Member Monday. Carla started with us through our New You Challenge in the spring. Once the challenge had ended, she opted to continue her training in our traditional CrossFit classes and also elected to work with our nutrition coach, Kelly Odom. Carla is now down 10 pounds and 8 inches since her start at CrossFit 317. Read on to learn more of her story.

What were your first impressions upon joining CrossFit 317?
“I hadn’t been a member of a gym in over 25 years (unless you count 2 Zumba Classes) so it was a bit intimidating.  I joined the New You Challenge class and Lori made my daughter, Maddy, and me feel right at home.”

How has your training at 317 impacted your life outside of the gym?
“I’m paying much more attention to what I eat and how I manage my time.  This includes making healthier choices for myself and my family. I’m also making time every day for a workout.  If it is important you find the time.”

How does CrossFit 317 meet your health and fitness needs?
“Since joining CrossFit 317 in May 2016 I have lost 10 lbs. and about 8 inches. I feel more energetic, less stressed and I’m sleeping better.  I worked with the nutrition coach, Kelly, to develop a personalized plan.  With lots of encouragement, from Kelly and my family, I have truly made a difference in my quality of life.”

Do you have a 317 memory that you would like to share?
“I have many great memories of the other members and the coaches cheering me on to finish strong.”

What’s your favorite part of CrossFit?
“I surprise myself all the time doing things I never thought possible.”

If asked to sum up 317 in one word or phrase, what would it be?
“Motivating”

Outside of the gym, what activities and hobbies do you enjoy?
“I enjoy traveling with my husband Reid and our children, Maddy and Alex.”
