First, tell me a little bit about yourself!

My name is Matt Kallai and I am 29 years old, I have been married to my beautiful wife Christina for almost 7 years now, We met back in college at Cleveland State where I wrestled and she played Basketball. I have wrestled for over 20 years, I also have a 110lbs Chocolate Lab which is like a child to my wife and I. I work for Beazer homes as a purchasing pofessional, and was in the field as a project manager for 7 years prior to moving to purchasing.

How did you get involved in CrossFit?

A Friend of mine had started doing CrossFit at a small gym, and told me that he thought I would like the workouts, so I saw a sign for CrossFit 317 and stopped in.

What was your first WOD/experience?

My first experience was going to the gym for a test out class and having to do Box Jumps, Kettle Bells, and pushups.

When did you start coming to CrossFit 317?

I first started working out at Crossfit 317 back in Feb, and have been addicted ever since.

Is this the first CrossFit you’ve worked out at / how long have you been CrossFitting for?

Yes this is the first Crossfit Box that i have ever worked out at. I have been CrossFitting for about 6 months now.

When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you?

I knew right away that CrossFit was was for me, I love the intensity and the variation of the workouts and the Atmosphere of the box. The Great people that I work out with at the gym really make working out a great experience.

What are you short-term and long-term CrossFit goals?

My short term goal would be to continue to Increase my over all understanding of all the Crossfit movements and work on my form. Long Term goal would have to be to make it to the Crossfit Regionalas an individual or with the Great team we have at the box.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

My Biggest accomplishment has to be that I have just over all gotten stronger and healthier since i have started CrossFit. Through out my wrestling career i have had many surgery’s due to not getting the proper instruction on how to lift properly or eat right, and now with the guidance of the great coaches I have I feel great.

What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?

Favorite WOD: Running Cindy
Least Favorite WOD: The Open Workout 13.1 Snatches and Burpees
Favorite Movement: My Favorite Movement would have to be Cleans
Least Favorite Movement: Snatching

What do you do for a profession outside of CrossFit?

I work for a Home Builder “Beazer Homes” I am now a Purchasing Professional for them but i was in the field for over 7 years as well as a Project manager.

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit?

I love to go boating in the summer, and also enjoy running in races. I also really enjoy doing any kind of construction side projects.

Do you eat Paleo or Zone?

Yes I do try to eat Paleo as much as i can, I would say im about 75% paleo

What is your favorite paleo/non-paleo meal?

I really like my wife’s Paleo meatloaf and spaghetti squash. Non Paleo meal has to anything spicey, but I really love a good buffalo chicken pizza.

Do you use any supplements?

Yes I do I use Advocare Products. Muscle Gain Protein, Arginine, and Mass Impact
