We’re pumped to announce Candi Mabry as our August Athlete Of The Month! Candi started at CrossFit 317 in January 2016. With her twin Sandy by her side, she was known as the quiet one. That didn’t last too long though! Over the past year especially, Candi has really pushed out of her comfort zone and started piling up the PRs, coming to class regularly, and she recently participated in our Sweat Angel Competition! We’re so proud of all the effort that Candi has put in to her fitness in her time with us. Now it’s our turn to recognize her for being awesome!
How did you get started with CrossFit?
“I’d heard of CrossFit but was scared to try until a friend, Ben Porter, brought us to watch. And I was hooked.”
Favorite movement or workout?
“Every movement and workout is my fav. Except snatch.”
Long term and short term goals:
“My long term goals to be strong and fit. My short term goal will always be to have better form on all movements.”
What would you tell someone that is on the fence about CrossFit and is scared to try?
“If I can do it, you can. I promise. It’s very intimidating when you first see it but once you start it, it’s love. You really love it. It’s the best part of the day.”
What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
“Sweat angels hands down. I stepped out of my comfort zone and did a competition that I never would have done in all my years.”
What do you love most about CrossFit 317?
“What I love about 317 . . . The people and coaches are amazing. I love how they can help push me out my comfort zone to be better.”
What is a quote or motto that you live by?
“What doesn’t kill you makes you makes you stronger.”
